Flooding

Have you ever noticed that streets often fill with water when it rains heavily? Have you ever seen the Fall Kill Creek overflow its banks during a storm? That’s called a flood. Floods are an overflow of water onto dry land. The Fall Kill has had some major flooding experiences, especially in 2011 when Tropical Storms Irene & Lee passed through Dutchess County. Water damaged homes, cars and covered streets. If you want to learn more about flooding and its positive and negative aspects, listen to the NCLI crew and our guest, Ed Hoxsie, talk about it.
